Edinburgh Taxis can be flagged down on the streets or pre-booked. To make it easy, download the Edinburgh Taxis app and book from wherever you are. There are 2 Black Taxi Cab companies that operate within the Edinburgh City boundaries. Edinburgh Taxis are the only vehicles allowed to stop and pick customers up from the street side. 

  All Central Drivers have passed a test and medical and are then provided with I.D. by the Edinburgh city council.

Edinburgh taxis operate different makes of vehicle that can hold up to 6 passengers. If you wish a vehicle with more space, when booking ask for a 6 seater and the company will provide this for you.

The charging structure is set by the Edinburgh city council.

The meters in the cabs are visible to the passengers to enable them to see the fare being charged.​ For journeys out of the city limits fixed fares are charged prior to starting your journey,

so ask for the price and negotiate the fare before commencing your journey.
