The Upper Bow was part of the West Bow which was a steep road that linked the Grassmarket to Castlehill. The West Bow now ends at Victoria Street and steps take you to the Upper Bow and Victoria Terrace which is a balcony walkway that is above the old West Bow.  The map show the present road layout with the Upper Bow, West Bow,

  Johnston Terrace, Castlehill,  and Lawnmarket.  The map can be found at the foot of the Upper Bow.
